We’re Here to Help!

At The Grand, we believe in creating the best possible entertainment experience for our guests. If you have questions or need assistance, just ask one of our staff members. We want to be your favorite place for live events, and we’re happy to guide you every step of the way.

There’s No Dress Code

Going to a show at The Grand is always a special occasion, but there’s no need to stress over what to wear! You’ll see a mix of casual business attire, jeans, khakis, and more. Some guests love to dress up for a night out, and you’re welcome to do the same! Ultimately, we want you to be comfortable. In Galveston, you can see everything from tuxedos to tennis shoes, so feel free to come as you are.

PRO TIP: Please be mindful of fragrances like perfumes or colognes, as they may affect others in the close quarters of the theater.

Come Early. Don’t Be Late.

The most common feedback we receive from our regular guests? "Arriving early makes all the difference." Late arrivals can disrupt the magic of a performance, so we recommend arriving 30-40 minutes before the show to allow time to park, get settled, and enjoy the pre-show atmosphere.

Our lobby doors open 60 minutes before showtime, and seating areas open 30 minutes prior. If you arrive late, you may have to wait in the lobby until there’s a break in the performance to enter.

PRO TIP: Please be mindful of fragrances like perfumes or colognes, as they may affect others in the close quarters of the theater.

Snacks & Refreshments

Enjoy a drink or light snack before the show in our main lobby! We offer a variety of beverages including soft drinks, mixed drinks, wine, and beer, plus a full selection of theater snacks. If you’re looking for a meal before the show, we recommend checking out the fantastic restaurants in Galveston—there are many great spots to grab a bite nearby!

Pro Tip: If you’re looking for a quicker bite, head to the 2nd floor (mezzanine level) for shorter lines. Shhhh…

Temperatures

Our beautiful, historic theater is designed to accommodate almost 1,100 guests, and managing the temperature can be a bit tricky. We aim to keep the theater at a comfortable 69–73°F, but factors like air vents, crowd size, and even humidity can influence how the temperature feels. Also, many artists require the thermostat to be set at specific temperatures for the performance.

Unfortunately, we can't control the climate to match everyone's comfort level, but we do our best to keep things just right.

PRO TIP: If you're someone who tends to get cold, we recommend bringing a light sweater or jacket just in case, as temperatures may fluctuate.

Show Length

Most concerts last between 90 minutes and two hours, while Broadway shows often run two to three hours. Many events include an intermission, giving you time to grab a drink or visit the restroom.

Restrooms

Restrooms are available on all levels except the orchestra level.

Pro Tip: The largest restrooms are located on the Grand Tier (3rd floor), and they typically have shorter lines.

Content & Parental Discretion

The Grand offers a diverse selection of performances, and not every show will be suitable for all ages. We encourage ticket buyers to make informed decisions about which shows are appropriate for their family. If you have questions about a performance's content, please contact our Box Office at info@thegrand.com.

By following these helpful tips, you can be sure your visit to The Grand 1894 Opera House will be as enjoyable and stress-free as possible. We can’t wait to welcome you!
