An annual holiday favorite that delights audiences of all ages – City Ballet of Houston’s presentation of The Nutcracker Ballet returns to The Grand 1894 Opera House. The Nutcracker tells a story of a young girl who dreams of a Nutcracker Prince, a Sugar Plum Fairy, and a fierce battle against a Mouse King. Ticket prices range from $25-$50, with a $4 discount per ticket for children 12 and under. Also, for groups of 10 or more, there is a $2 per ticket discount.
Academy of City Ballet of Houston was founded by Mary Elizabeth Arrington and Luis Fuente. The school is home to City Ballet of Houston, an honor company of Regional Dance America/Southwest. ACBH’s affiliation with City Ballet of Houston allows its students access to performing venues such as Jones Hall, Wortham Center, Miller Outdoor Theatre, and, of course, the 1894 Grand Opera House in Galveston where the company has performed their Nutcrackers for the past 25 years.
