This week, THE CHOIR OF MAN arrived in College Station, Texas to a warm welcome by OPAS’ subscribers and students. Audiences jumped to their feet over the incredible singing and dancing of the troop, but the full show experience was so much greater than we could have ever imagined. Here are a few of our personal, unsolicited favorite moments from opening night:
- *FREE BEER ON STAGE! The College Station supporters are generally a polite, conservative group, but the onstage pre-show party with the guys couldn’t have been more fun. The full cast was onstage (and in the audience) getting the party started the moment the house opened! *If beer isn’t allowed at your venue, we imagine the energy onstage will be intoxicating enough.
- OUR FAVORITE SONGS! Our team was torn between Denis’ heartwrenching “Dance with my Father” and Johnny’s “Hello,” but every single song was off-the-charts amazing. Don’t worry; we won’t spoil the full song list for you!
- AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION! During the show, the choir runs into the audience and invites a few new friends onto the stage. The willing participants aren’t forced into any embarrassing situations, but the guys’ interactions with ticket-buyers are priceless.
- MORE THAN TRIPLE THREATS! Just when we thought they could not impress us more with their incredible singing, dancing, and acting, the guys each grab instruments to elevate the show to a new level. It’s easy to count the nine men, but we lost count on how many instruments they swapped!
ANOTHER PARTY AT POST SHOW! The beer may stop flowing when the act is over, but the guys race to front of house not only to sell signed merch, but to hop in front of their step-and-repeat to meet and greet the #ChoirOfFans. And, just for the record, they’re possibly the friendliest group we’ve met.
After the opening night performance, we heard nonstop buzz about the show’s insane vocals, the athletic tap dancing and beer-stein slinging-ography, the mens’ #sexyaccents (and let’s be honest, faces), and an endless list of buzzwords including FUN, PARTY, INCREDIBLE, UNEXPECTED, HILARIOUS and MOVING. The last students to leave the building swore they’d be back for the second performance.
