Did you know that purple is the color of loyalty, constancy to purpose and unswerving steadfastness to a cause? Internationally, purple is a color for symbolizing women. We encourage you to wear a bit of purple this month to celebrate the women in your life.
Here are a few quotes from women who have graced The Grand’s stage!
How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she-roes!
After all, Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did. She just did it backwards and in high heels.
Holland Taylor as Ann Richards in “Ann”
So if diva means giving your best, then yes, I guess I am a diva.
February may be over, but we’re continuing to celebrate the Black artists who have performed on our stage! Stop by and check out our window display if you’re out and about.
The Grand 1894 Opera House has a rich history of presenting a diverse and powerful array of artists. We are proud to celebrate Black History month and invite you to view our windows along Postoffice Street in historic downtown Galveston, to bring back memories of so many of our favorites over the years. This sampling of individual artists, groups and companies represents a variety of genres, from blues and jazz, pop and classical to dance, theatre and the spoken word. It is a walk through our past and present during this month of celebration. The Grand is committed to continuing its history of diversity, equity and inclusion in the arts.
