(1932-2020)  An American musician, singer, and songwriter, Richard Wayne Penniman, known as Little Richard, was an influential figure in popular music and culture for seven decades. Little Richard combined the sacred shouts of the black church and the profane sounds of the blues to create some of the world’s first and most influential rock ‘n’ roll records. One of Richard’s signature songs, “Tutti Frutti” (1955) became an instant hit, crossing over to the pop charts in both the U.S. and the United Kingdom.
