is a Broadway musical about three Black women singers who form a trio called The Dreams. It shows the show business hopes and dreams of R&B acts such as The Supremes, The Shirelles, James Brown, and others. It is fiction but closely matches the rise of The Supremes, and portrays a mixture of Black groups that succeeded in the 60s.

is a musical based on Alice Walker’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book about Celie, an abused woman who, over a 40 year period, discovers the healing power of love, forgiveness, and redemption. It won the Tony for Best Revival of a Musical in 2015.
